BMKG warns of 4-meter waves off South Jatim through June 13
Fishers, barges and ferries are urged to stay alert as the sea-safety threshold has been exceeded in several waters.
BMKG warned that waves of 2.5 to 4 meters could hit a number of Indonesian waters on June 10-13, 2026, including the southern coast of East Java. In Jatim, the areas at highest risk include waters off Pacitan, Trenggalek, Tulungagung, Blitar, Malang, Lumajang, Jember and Banyuwangi. BMKG Maritim Tanjung Perak Surabaya said the conditions were driven by strong and persistent easterly to southeasterly winds, with speeds of 5-25 knots. Sutarno from BMKG Maritim Tanjung Perak also said the waters off Masalembo, Bawean, Tuban, Lamongan, northern Gresik and northern Madura could see waves of 1.25-2.5 meters. BMKG urged fishers, vessel operators and coastal residents to monitor the weather, warning that safety risks rise when wave heights exceed safe sailing thresholds.
