Bill Maher fires back after Trump mocks HBO show's ratings
What's new: Maher used his Friday monologue to cite Trump's approval numbers and joke about the claim that his audience laughter is fake.
Bill Maher answered President Donald Trump's latest online attack during Friday's "Real Time" monologue, mocking Trump's swipe that he is a "low-ratings" host with a "fake laughing machine." Maher turned the ratings insult back on Trump by pointing to the president's approval numbers, saying Trump was at 35%. He also responded to the fake-laughter jab by asking the show to cut to the audience, then extending the bit with applause footage. Fox News cited a Fox News poll that put Trump's overall approval at 39%. The exchange is the latest flare-up in a long-running feud between the HBO host and Trump, who had blasted Maher earlier on Truth Social.
