BGN chief Nanik Deyang resigns; Sudaryono to replace her

Nanik cited heart disease and travel abroad for a second opinion; the Palace is preparing Sudaryono to take over.

National Nutrition Agency head Nanik Sudaryati Deyang has resigned after about 45 days leading the agency that runs President Prabowo Subianto’s flagship free nutritious meals program. State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi confirmed the resignation in Jakarta on Wednesday, July 22. Nanik wrote on Facebook that she stepped down because of health conditions, including heart disease, and left for abroad the same day to seek a second opinion. According to the Palace, Agriculture Deputy Minister Sudaryono will be sworn in as her replacement. Nanik was installed on June 8, after enforcement action in an alleged misuse of funds case that implicated former BGN chief Dadan Hindayana and two deputies. In a separate statement, Nanik also denied speculation about her reasons for resigning and said she had already been treated at a hospital in Jakarta before leaving for medical care.
