Bezzecchi barred from Czech MotoGP after marshal incident

The points leader, on 180, will miss Sunday’s Brno race, giving Jorge Martin a chance to cut a 15-point gap.

Marco Bezzecchi has been banned from competing in the main race of the 2026 Czech MotoGP at the Masaryk Circuit in Brno on Sunday after FIM MotoGP handed him a suspension over an incident with a marshal during the sprint race. In the stewards' document, the Aprilia Racing rider was judged to have pushed and struck a track marshal who was trying to move his bike after a crash. The action was said to violate Article 3.3.2.2 of the FIM regulations on conduct harmful to the interests of the sport. After a hearing to consider Bezzecchi's defense, the stewards upheld the start ban for the Czech GP. Aprilia can still file an appeal within one hour of the decision being announced. The penalty has major implications for the title race because Bezzecchi leads the 2026 MotoGP standings with 180 points, 15 ahead of Jorge Martin.
