Belgium, Egypt in Seattle with De Bruyne, Salah starting
The Group G opener could quickly shape the race for two knockout spots, with Iran and New Zealand also in contention.
Belgium and Egypt will open their Group G campaign at the 2026 World Cup by starting Kevin De Bruyne and Mohamed Salah in a match in Seattle on Tuesday at 02.00 WIB. Belgium will line up in a 4-2-3-1 with Charles De Ketelaere up front, backed by Jeremy Doku, De Bruyne and Leandro Trossard. Thibaut Courtois will be in goal. Egypt will also use a 4-2-3-1 with Salah and Omar Marmoush leading the attack. The match carries added importance because Group G also includes Iran and New Zealand, making the opening result potentially decisive in the race for the knockout stage. Belgium enter after friendly wins over Tunisia and Kroasia, while Egypt beat Russia 1-0 and lost 1-2 to Brasil.
