State spending reaches Rp1,365.4 trillion through May 2026, up 34.4%
The surge in central government spending was driven by MBG, social aid, THR, subsidies, pensions and the hiring of 355,000 new ASN.
State spending through the end of May 2026 reached Rp1,365.4 trillion, equal to 35.5 percent of the 2026 APBN target of Rp3,842.7 trillion. The figure was up 34.4 percent from the same period last year. Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa said central government spending totaled Rp1,059.3 trillion, or 33.6 percent of the allocation, rising 52.6 percent year on year. Of that total, ministry and agency spending of Rp517.7 trillion was driven by the Makan Bergizi Gratis program, social aid disbursements, THR payments and personnel spending. The Finance Ministry also said the appointment of 355,000 new ASN helped lift personnel spending. Non-ministry spending reached Rp541.6 trillion, supported by pension payments, subsidies and fuel and electricity compensation. Transfers to regions stood at Rp306.1 trillion, down 4.9 percent.
