Baznas links zakat to unity at Monas national prayer
Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar said 2025 national zakat collections rose 12 percent to Rp44,6 triliun, reaching 140 million mustahik.
Baznas RI linked the zakat, infak and sedekah movement to efforts to strengthen national unity during the Zikir and Doa Kebangsaan at Monumen Nasional Field in Jakarta on Saturday (1/8). Baznas chairman Sodik Mudjahid said zakat is not only a religious obligation, but also a tool to reinforce brotherhood, bind Indonesia's diversity and improve the welfare of the people. The event, themed “Indonesia Berdaulat, Adil, dan Makmur,” was held ahead of the 81st anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia and attended by thousands. Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar also highlighted better performance in religious social funds. He said national zakat collections in 2025 grew 12 percent to Rp44,6 triliun, benefiting 140 million mustahik.
