The Kepulauan Riau Police have arrested a man identified by the initials SF, who is suspected of damaging and stealing public facilities in Batam City. Police said the suspect acted in the Terowongan Pelita area on Saturday, June 13, by breaking the cement cover on a drainage channel and taking the iron frame inside. From the act, SF is suspected of making off with about 10 kilograms of iron. In an Antara report, police described the method as "rayap besi" because it targets metal materials in public infrastructure. The arrest adds to a series of cases of damage to public facilities that harm the urban environment and disrupt drainage function.
