Bareskrim detains former Brimob officer in Samarinda drug ring

Dedy Wiratama has been dismissed from the force and is suspected of acting as a lookout, monitoring police movement in Gang Langgar.

Bareskrim Polri detained former Kaltim Police Brimob member Bripka Dedy Wiratama after questioning him in Jakarta on Friday (5/6). Dedy was brought from Samarinda to the Awaloedin Bareskrim building and immediately placed in detention. Investigators said Dedy had been dishonorably discharged after an ethics hearing found him guilty of serious violations. In the drug-trafficking network in Gang Langgar, Samarinda Seberang, Dedy is suspected of serving as a “sniper,” or lookout, monitoring customers or movements deemed suspicious, including the possible presence of police. Bareskrim is still examining how long Dedy was involved and tracing others through witness interviews, evidence, communications and transactions. Earlier, the dismantling of the network netted a total of 11 suspects, with daily turnover said to reach Rp150 juta to Rp200 juta.
