Bapanas distributes premium rice as national price hits Rp15.966
Bapanas says premium rice remains contained, with Zone I prices only 2.17% above the Rp14.900 per kg ceiling.
The National Food Agency is stepping up market intervention by distributing premium rice and carrying out stabilization programs to keep supply steady and hold down price increases. Bapanas Deputy for Food Availability and Stabilization I Gusti Ketut Astawa said premium rice is not scarce, even though some retail shelves are empty. Bapanas monitoring showed the national average price of premium rice in the third week of July 2026 reached Rp15.966 per kilogram. In Zone I, which covers Java, Lampung, South Sumatra, Bali, West Nusa Tenggara, and Sulawesi, the average price as of July 24 was Rp15.224 per kg, or 2.17 percent above the Rp14.900 ceiling. Since January 2026, distributions from the Government Rice Reserve have reached 1.4 million tons, consisting of SPHP January-February 221.05 thousand tons, SPHP March-July 520.83 thousand tons, and the first phase of food aid 662.88 thousand tons.
