Bank BJB Warns of Digital Scams Using Its Name

The new twist: criminals use fake websites, social media accounts and WhatsApp to lure customers into giving PINs, OTPs and CVV/CVC.

Bank BJB is reminding customers and the public to watch for digital scams that use the bank’s name through phone calls, SMS, email, social media and WhatsApp. The tactics vary, from promises of prizes and promotions, data updates, account activation and transaction assistance that steer victims to open certain links or contact fake numbers. Once victims trust them, the perpetrators ask for confidential data such as User ID, password, PIN, OTP codes, debit or credit card numbers, and CVV/CVC to take over accounts and carry out transactions without the owner’s knowledge. Bank BJB stressed it never asks for confidential data through messages, calls or links, and does not contact customers from employees’ personal WhatsApp numbers.
