Floods inundate 485 homes in Medan, extreme weather damages 20 in Sumut

Heavy rain and strong winds inundated at least 485 homes in Medan, Sumatera Utara, on Thursday night, with water levels around 80 to 150 centimeters. Medan city BPBD said flooding hit Medan Johor, Medan Selayang and Medan Maimun. On Jalan Luku in Kwala Bekala village, about 150 homes were affected; on Jalan Saudara in Beringin village, about 80 homes were flooded; while in Kampung Aur, 255 homes were affected. Some residents were evacuated, while officers monitored the possibility of rising water levels. At the same time, Pusdalops PB Sumut reported extreme weather severely damaged 20 homes in Serdangbedagai regency, mainly in Perbaungan and Sei Rampah districts. No casualties were reported.
