Bangun Paulus hearing focuses on Rp50 million, missing evidence

PN Jakarta Pusat has scheduled the defendant's examination for 4 November, while handcuffs, a hammer and a cellphone remain on the wanted-items list.

The continued trial in the alleged extortion and intimidation case against Bangun Paulus Tudungta at the Central Jakarta District Court on Monday (2/11) focused on the return of Rp50 million and the whereabouts of evidence that has not been found. Prosecutors presented Bripka Eko Haryanto, an investigator with the Central Jakarta Metro Police, as an oral fact witness at the request of the defendant's counsel, which the panel of judges granted. Eko said investigators would not accept the return of the money without an acknowledgment that the funds were the result of a crime. He also said handcuffs, a hammer and a mobile phone had not been handed over to investigators. Prosecutor Andri Saputra said the items were listed in the Daftar Pencarian Barang, but were not found during the inspection. The defendant objected, saying the explanation about the evidence was not satisfactory.
