Bandung DPRD pushes corporate charges after 10 trees cut
The push for legal action would reach the beneficial owners of the padel business, alongside a civil suit for environmental damages.
Chairman of Commission I of the Bandung City DPRD, Radea Respati Paramudhita, is pushing criminal and civil proceedings over the cutting of 10 large trees in front of a padel court on Jalan LLRE Martadinata, or Jalan Riau, Bandung. He said the cutting, which has taken place since 29 June 2026, is suspected to have been organized and linked to construction of a padel facility at the site. According to Radea, legal action should not stop with the workers on the ground, but must also trace the beneficial owners of the business entities involved. He urged the Bandung city government to apply corporate criminal liability so business owners, managers and commissioners can be held responsible if their involvement is proven. Beyond criminal charges, he also called for a civil lawsuit for damages and environmental restoration. The case had already drawn anger from Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan, while the city government raised its handling from a minor violation to a major violation.
