Bandung city seals padel site after 10 trees cut on Jalan Riau
Officials are preparing reports to the governor and KLH enforcement unit, citing alleged violations of the moratorium and environmental rules.
The Bandung city government sealed a padel and cafe business site on Jalan LLRE Martadinata, or Jalan Riau, after 10 shade trees on the sidewalk in front of the area were cut down without permission. Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan discovered the cutting during a surprise inspection on Friday. Satpol PP then installed yellow sealing tape at the site. Farhan said the tree cutting violated local regulations, a provincial circular moratorium on tree cutting from the West Java provincial government, and could amount to a breach of environmental protection rules. The city government is preparing reports to the West Java provincial government and environmental law enforcement at the Ministry of Environment to push for criminal proceedings against the perpetrators.
