Bambang Pacul shrugs off PSI target to dominate Central Java
PSI is preparing Jokowi and Kaesang Pangarep to tour several Central Java districts in mid-July, part of a push toward 2029.
PDI Perjuangan DPP Chairman Bambang Wuryanto responded calmly to Partai Solidaritas Indonesia's target of making Central Java a "gajah cage," a region long known as PDIP's main base. At the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, Bambang Pacul said anyone is free to pursue political ambitions, but the result will only be seen in the field. He also declined to comment further because he no longer leads PDIP in Central Java. The PSI target resurfaced after Central Java PSI DPW Chairman Antonius Yogo said Joko Widodo will tour several areas in Central Java in July with PSI Chairman Kaesang Pangarep. According to Yogo, the agenda is being prepared to strengthen PSI's position in Jateng ahead of the 2029 election.
