Baby Udon to hit theaters September 3, Denny plays Hajime
Fajar Bustomi’s film, adapted from Fanny Kondoh’s story, follows Hajime’s spiritual path to Islam.
The film "Baby Udon" is scheduled to open in Indonesian theaters starting September 3. At the gala premiere in Jakarta on Wednesday, Denny Sumargo said the film grew out of the story brought by Fanny Kondoh, the real-life wife of Hajime Kondoh. Denny also plays Hajime, a gentle husband character that he said was heavily shaped by his own experience with Olivia Sumargo. In his explanation, Denny said the quote "Kun Fayakun," inspired by Surat Yasin verse 82, was inserted to mark Hajime’s spiritual journey when he decides to embrace Islam. The film is directed by Fajar Bustomi from a screenplay by Oka Aurora, with a cast that includes Caitlin Halderman, Putri Ayudya, Miyu Okazaki, Hiroaki Kato, and Alfie Alfandy.
