Cristian Volpato, one of Australia’s breakout players at the 2026 World Cup, is under police inquiry after an alleged positive roadside cocaine test during a speeding stop in Sydney. New South Wales police said the 22-year-old was pulled over on Anzac Bridge about 1:10 a.m. Friday after allegedly driving 109 km/h in a 60 km/h zone. Police took a secondary oral fluid sample for further analysis and issued an infringement notice for speeding. Volpato’s international driver’s license was suspended for six months, barring him from driving in New South Wales. Police also said he had been stopped about two hours earlier on the same bridge for another alleged speeding offense. He has not been charged with a criminal offense.
