He also expressed condolences over the deaths of Ali Khamenei and Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
MPR Chairman Ahmad Muzani reaffirmed Indonesia's position in support of Palestinian independence when opening the MPR Annual Session and the Joint Session of the DPR-DPD at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Friday (14/8). In his speech, Muzani said Indonesia's support for Palestine has not changed and is not a form of hostility toward any religion or nation, but is rooted in Indonesia's history of struggle and the mandate of the constitution. He said Indonesia, which once experienced colonial rule, cannot remain silent when other nations live under occupation and violence. At the forum, Muzani also conveyed condolences over the death of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and former Qatar Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
