Aston Villa sign Joao Gomes from Wolves in £38 million deal

Aston Villa completed the signing of Brazil midfielder Joao Gomes from Wolves for an initial £34 million, with another £4 million in add-ons. Gomes, 25, leaves after three and a half seasons at Molineux, where he made 130 appearances and was named Wolves player of the year last season despite the club's relegation. Villa moved for Gomes after reshaping their midfield this summer, bringing in Johan Manzambi and seeing Youri Tielemans join Manchester United. Gomes made 41 appearances last season and adds Premier League experience to Unai Emery's squad as Villa prepare for the new campaign.
