ASML trims planned 1,700 job cuts after union negotiations

What's new: layoffs now cannot take effect before May 1, and affected staff will have until May 2027 to seek other roles.

ASML will eliminate fewer jobs than the roughly 1,700 cuts it outlined in January after negotiations with Dutch trade unions. Employees are expected to learn next month whether their roles are affected, following consultations with the works council, union spokesperson Diederik Bonarius said. The redundancies are not expected to start before May 1, and workers who lose their positions will have until May 2027 to find another job, with settlements capped at 400,000 euros. The Veldhoven-based chip equipment maker had planned the cuts as part of an effort to reduce layers of management and bureaucracy, equal to about 4% of its workforce.
