Arsenal added Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United in a £75 million transfer, giving Mikel Arteta another high-level midfield option before the new season. Guimaraes signed a four-year contract with an option for an extra 12 months after leaving Newcastle’s training camp in La Manga to finish the deal at Emirates Stadium. He told Arsenal the switch was among the toughest choices of his life but said he wanted a new challenge and the chance to win trophies. Guimaraes joined Newcastle in January 2022, helped the club qualify for the Champions League in 2023 and 2025, and captained the team to the 2025 Carabao Cup, their first major domestic trophy in 70 years.
