Arrmanatha steers Indonesian diplomacy toward food, energy, investment
Kemlu highlights rice cooperation with Japan and South Korea and says the EU CEPA has been completed in substance.
Foreign Minister Arrmanatha Nasir is directing Indonesian diplomacy to have a direct impact on people’s needs, especially food, energy, trade, investment and strategic industries. In a press statement after the handover ceremony with Sugiono in Jakarta on Monday, Arrmanatha said diplomacy should be measured by whether it is felt “on the people’s dinner table.” He cited several ongoing projects, including rice production upgrades with Japan and South Korea, dairy cattle investment with Vietnam, and the development of thorium and geothermal power plants with Japan. Indonesia is also building an integrated electric vehicle battery ecosystem with China. On the trade front, CEPA deals with Canada and Peru have been signed, while the CEPA with the European Union has been completed in substance.
