Army names 2 pilots killed in Apache crash during Texas training

The Army identified the two pilots killed when an AH-64E Apache crashed during a training exercise near Salado, Texas, on Wednesday. Fort Hood said the dead were Chief Warrant Officer 2 Deontre T. Huey, 34, of Killeen, Texas, and Warrant Officer Seth L. Olmstead, 25, of Belton, Texas. The helicopter, based at Fort Hood, went down in a field in Bell County and sparked a wildfire that drew a large emergency response. Both soldiers were assigned to Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 227th Aviation Regiment, 1st Air Cavalry Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division. The Army said a safety investigation team from the U.S. Army Combat Readiness Center in Fort Rucker, Alabama, arrived Aug. 13 to lead the investigation.
