Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs wins Democratic renomination unopposed

Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs secured the Democratic nomination for governor on Tuesday after facing no primary challenger, sending the first-term incumbent into a high-stakes general election in a battleground state. Hobbs, who narrowly beat Republican Kari Lake four years ago, will meet the winner of the Republican primary in November. The GOP field includes Rep. Andy Biggs, who has backing from President Donald Trump and Turning Point USA's political wing, along with Rep. David Schweikert, Scott Neely and Ken Miceli. Hobbs built a sizable campaign fund and spent about $7 million during the primary, using ads aimed in part at independents and Republicans to highlight Arizona's economy and her work with the GOP-led legislature.
