Apple set to pitch new AI tools at Tim Cook’s final WWDC

What's next: Investors and developers will watch for a rebuilt Siri and broader AI features as John Ternus prepares to take over in September.

Apple is expected to use its Worldwide Developers Conference starting Monday to showcase new artificial intelligence features, including upgrades to Siri, at what is set to be Tim Cook’s last developer event as chief executive. The conference at Apple’s Silicon Valley headquarters typically centers on software rather than new iPhone hardware. Analysts expect Apple to highlight AI capabilities across its devices as it tries to narrow the gap with other big tech companies. Emarketer analyst Gadjo Sevilla said Siri could become more conversational, retain memory from earlier exchanges and handle multiple tasks in a single request. Cook revealed plans to retire in April, and Apple hardware chief John Ternus is due to succeed him in September.
