What's new: The Mac Mini starts at $899, while some Mac Studio models can link together to run trillion-parameter AI models.

Apple introduced new Mac Mini and Mac Studio desktops with updated chips aimed at running artificial intelligence workloads locally, expanding a part of its lineup that has become popular with developers and researchers. The Mac Mini can now be configured with M6 and M5 Pro chips, making it Apple’s first computer to ship with an M6-generation processor. Apple said the M5 Pro version handles large language model prompts 8.5 times faster than older Pro models. The Mac Mini now starts at $899, up $100 from the prior version. The Mac Studio starts at $2,499 with an M5 Max chip, while an M5 Ultra version starts at $5,499. Apple said Mac Studios with the Ultra chip can be linked to pool memory and run frontier AI models.
