Apple launches $299 HomeView hub to push Siri deeper into homes
What's new: The 7-inch device ships Nov. 13, supports up to six users and ties Siri responses to apps like Messages and Calendar.
Apple introduced HomeView, a $299 smart home hub with a 7-inch screen, in its latest push to make Siri a bigger part of household devices. The product can sit on a table or mount on a wall, recognizes users by face and shows personalized information including messages, photos, calendars and reminders. Apple said HomeView ships Nov. 13 and supports up to six users. The device runs on an A18 chip and works with Apple Intelligence features on compatible iPhones and iPads, while also handling general Siri queries on its own. Apple also refreshed Apple TV 4K and HomePod Mini as it tries to strengthen a home-device business that made up about 7% of revenue in the latest quarter.
