Apple and DOJ explore settlement in 2024 antitrust suit

The talks are still early, no trial date has been set, and an agreement remains uncertain.

Apple Inc. and the U.S. Department of Justice have begun early talks to resolve the antitrust lawsuit the U.S. government filed in 2024. A Bloomberg report cited by Antara on Friday (17/7) said negotiations are underway, but the outcome is uncertain and no trial schedule has been set. The suit was filed during Joe Biden's administration as part of a broader effort to curb the influence of large technology companies. In the case, the DOJ accuses Apple of harming rivals, software developers and consumers. Apple’s effort to have the suit thrown out failed in June 2025, leaving the case to proceed while the option of an out-of-court settlement is discussed.
