Anthropic seeks reversal after US halts foreign access to 2 AI models

Anthropic moved Monday to undo a U.S. order that cut off access to its newest AI models, Fable 5 and Mythos 5, over unspecified national security concerns. Senior staff met Trump administration officials in Washington after the company received a Friday export control directive barring use of the models by any foreign national, inside or outside the United States. Anthropic then disabled the models for all customers to comply. The dispute adds to a broader clash with the government after the Defense Department labeled Anthropic a supply chain risk in March, blocking defense contractors from using its technology. Anthropic has sued the administration over that designation, and the case is still pending.
