Anthropic revenue jumped 45% to $16.8 billion ahead of IPO

Why it matters: The Claude maker also told investors it was profitable for a second straight quarter as AI spending jitters hit chip stocks.

Anthropic’s revenue rose 45% to $16.8 billion in the three months through September as the artificial intelligence company prepared for a stock market listing expected before year-end, the BBC reported. The San Francisco-based developer of Claude disclosed the figures while briefing prospective investors at its headquarters on Wednesday. Revenue had climbed from $4.7 billion in the first quarter to $11.6 billion in the second, and Anthropic also reported a second consecutive profitable quarter. The update lands as investors question whether heavy spending on AI infrastructure will pay off. Shares of AMD, Nvidia and Intel fell sharply on Wednesday, while SoftBank dropped 9% in Tokyo and Samsung and SK Hynix also declined.
