Amran Says Indonesia's Rice Stock Is Safe as 33 Countries Prepare

Government says Bulog rice reserves reached 4.5 million tons on Oct. 26, supported by harvest potential and hotel stock.

Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman said Indonesia's food supply is relatively secure even as at least 33 countries urge citizens to prepare emergency supplies amid global geopolitical tensions. Amran said that resilience is supported by domestic production and still-strong government reserves. As of Oct. 26, 2026, government rice reserves managed by Perum Bulog were said to reach about 4.5 million tons. The government also calculated about 10 million tons of rice potential from standing crop ready for harvest and about 10 million tons of stock in the hotel, restaurant and catering sector. The report said Britain asked households to prepare food and water for at least three days, while Japan advised keeping basic supplies for three days to one week to anticipate supply disruptions, disasters and other risks.
