Amran, Komnas Perempuan sign MoU after Tiara Devi row
Komnas Perempuan said the dispute was settled and widened the meeting into a partnership on protecting women in agriculture.
Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman and Komnas Perempuan signed a memorandum of understanding in Jakarta on Thursday after a dispute over a request to replace BGN Surabaya regional coordinator Tiara Devi. Komnas Perempuan chair Maria Ulfah Anshor said a direct clarification with Amran led the matter to be considered closed. The meeting then expanded into stronger coordination to fulfill women's rights and eliminate discrimination and violence in the agriculture sector. The dispute began at a livestock coordination meeting in Surabaya on Aug. 11, when Amran asked the head of Badan Gizi Nasional to replace Tiara because SPPG in her area had not absorbed eggs from farmers. After learning Tiara was pregnant, Amran offered to transfer her to Jakarta with an equivalent or higher post and a workload he considered lighter.
