Amazon lifts India AI and cloud investment to $48 billion

Amazon will invest another $13 billion in India to expand artificial intelligence and cloud infrastructure, raising its planned 2026-2030 outlay in the country to $48 billion. The new spending will increase AWS data center capacity in Mumbai and Hyderabad as global cloud providers compete for India’s fast-growing market. Amazon said its total investment in India from 2010 to 2030 now stands at $88 billion. CEO Andy Jassy met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday as the company pushed its role across e-commerce, AI, cloud and entertainment. The expansion aims to serve startups, businesses and government users with custom AI chips, managed AI services and cloud tools.
