Amanda Staveley group moves to buy 25.1% stake in West Ham

What's next: Existing West Ham shareholders can still match the deal under pre-emption rights, leaving the sale unresolved.

A consortium led by Amanda Staveley has agreed to buy the Gold family’s 25.1% stake in West Ham United, a deal that would reshape the ownership of the relegated club if it clears a pre-emption process. Vanessa Gold, daughter of former joint chairman David Gold, said she had reached terms with Staveley, Mehrdad Ghodoussi and PCP Capital Partners. The stake had previously been lined up for sale to Daniel Kretinsky’s EP Group, but that transaction collapsed. Kretinsky’s camp said it is reviewing options, including using its rights to buy the shares first. David Sullivan remains West Ham’s largest shareholder as the club prepares for life in the Championship.
