Alwi Farhan ousts Lakshya Sen, reaches Indonesia Open round of 16

Alwi advances to face fifth seed Jonatan Christie next after the straight-sets win at Istora Senayan.

Alwi Farhan opened the 2026 Indonesia Open by eliminating 10th seed Lakshya Sen of India 21-19, 21-16 in the first round at Istora Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday (2/6). The win sent the Indonesian men's singles player into the round of 16 at the Super 1000 event. Alwi said the Istora atmosphere gave him an extra lift even though he was physically and mentally drained after playing two straight tournaments, including the Singapore Open last week. In the next round, Alwi will meet fifth seed Jonatan Christie in an all-Indonesian clash. In another match, men's doubles pair Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin exited after a 16-21, 21-13, 19-21 loss to Taiwan's Lee Jhe-Huei/Yang Po-Hsuan.
