Airlangga: Prabowo wiretapping case hits market sentiment, not basics
Bareskrim has named 4 suspects, and the government sees the case as important to curb negative investor perceptions.
Economy Minister Airlangga Hartarto said the illegal wiretapping case involving President Prabowo Subianto is more likely to weigh on market sentiment than to shake Indonesia's economic fundamentals. In Jakarta on Friday, Airlangga said the psychological factor among market participants can affect views of the economy, but the government will stay focused on maintaining fundamentals. He also said Polri's handling of the case is important to restore negative perceptions. Earlier, Bareskrim Polri named four suspects, identified as LSP, AS, EH, and SU, in alleged illegal wiretapping, deletion of electronic data and illegal access. The suspects are alleged to have targeted the President, state officials, political figures, media, mass organizations, NGOs and businesspeople throughout 2025–2026.
