AHY pushes truck decarbonization as heavy vehicles drive 31%

The government is also preparing truck and bus electrification, B50 biodiesel and green logistics corridors to cut energy and logistics costs.

The government is accelerating freight transport decarbonization after heavy vehicles were said to account for about 31 percent of land transport emissions even though they make up only about 3 percent of the total vehicle fleet. At the Indonesia Zero Emission Heavy-Duty Vehicle forum in Jakarta on Thursday (23/7/2026), Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono said the move is also aimed at strengthening energy security and reducing logistics costs. The Transportation Ministry is preparing a Green Logistics Corridor to connect industrial areas, ports, toll roads, logistics centers, warehouses and clean energy networks. The government is also promoting truck and bus electrification, expansion of SPKLU, fleet modernization and the use of biodiesel B50.
