Abidin Fikri earns cumlaude doctorate, highlights doctor gap

His dissertation found 345 of 10,195 puskesmas in 2024 still operating without a doctor.

Deputy Chairman of Commission VIII of the DPR Abidin Fikri received a doctorate in law from Universitas Borobudur in Jakarta with cumlaude honors and a 3.97 GPA. He was listed as the 399th graduate after 2 years 3 months of study. In an open doctoral defense, Abidin defended a dissertation titled "Rekonstruksi Pengaturan Pemerataan Tenaga Medis Menuju Kesehatan Masyarakat yang Berkemanfaatan dan Berkeadilan". The research examined the unequal distribution of medical workers across regions in Indonesia. Data from 2024 used in the dissertation showed 345 of 10,195 puskesmas still lacked a doctor, while only 6,133 puskesmas met the standard for nine types of health workers.
