9x6-Meter Red and White Flag Flies on Merapi Slope
The ceremony at Bukit Klangon, Cangkringan, Sleman drew thousands of residents for the 81st anniversary of RI independence.
A giant Red and White flag measuring 9x6 meters was raised during a ceremony on the slope of Mount Merapi, at Bukit Klangon, Cangkringan, Sleman, D.I. Yogyakarta, on Sunday (16/8). Thousands of participants from various community groups joined the event as part of the commemoration of the 81st anniversary of RI Independence. The flag raising took place on the Merapi slope with mountain scenery in the background, making it one of the independence celebration events that drew strong public participation. Before the ceremony began, officers were also seen carrying the giant flag. The event marked a spirit of unity among residents in welcoming 17 August.
