96% of SoFi Stadium workers approve strike ahead of World Cup
About 2,000 hospitality workers could walk off at any time before the June 12 U.S.-Paraguay match in Los Angeles.
Workers at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Los Angeles County, authorized a strike days before the venue is set to host the first 2026 World Cup match in the United States. UNITE HERE Local 11 said 96 percent of members who voted backed the move. About 2,000 hospitality workers, including cashiers, bartenders, cooks, catering staff and dishwashers, could stop work if contract talks with Legends Global do not produce an agreement. The dispute centers on wage increases, job protections, limits on subcontracting and concerns over the role of federal immigration authorities and the disclosure of personal data in FIFA accreditation. Negotiations are scheduled to continue Monday. SoFi will host eight matches, including the United States-Paraguay game on 12 June.
