9 hurt in Kansas City shooting near England World Cup base camp

What's new: Police had no suspects in custody, and England's team was still in Florida when the shooting happened.

Nine people suffered non-life-threatening injuries in a shooting in Kansas City, Missouri, near the site England plans to use as its base camp for the 2026 World Cup. Kansas City police said at least three victims were taken to local hospitals, while others sought treatment on their own. The shooting happened about 6.4 kilometers from Swope Soccer Village, where England are set to train during the tournament. England had not yet arrived in Kansas City and were preparing for a June 10 friendly against Costa Rica in Orlando, Florida. Police said no suspects were in custody and the investigation was continuing.
