8 illegal miners arrested in TWA Tanjung Tampa, NTB
Authorities seized 157 sacks of rock suspected to contain gold, plus a dump truck and pickup used on the sea-land transport route.
A joint team arrested eight people suspected of involvement in illegal mining inside the conservation area of Taman Wisata Alam Tanjung Tampa, Gunung Prabu, Lombok Tengah, Nusa Tenggara Barat. In the operation, officers also seized 157 sacks of rock suspected to contain gold, one dump truck, one pickup vehicle and other evidence.
The case came to light after residents reported vehicles repeatedly hauling sacks of rock from around Gunung Prabu. Officers then monitored loading and unloading points on the coast of Desa Kuta, Kecamatan Pujut, and found material being transferred from a wooden boat to land vehicles. The two vehicles were later stopped in Desa Ketara. Dwi Januanto Nugroho said investigators are now tracing the source of the material, its destination and the parties that received and profited from the mining output.
