79-year-old pedestrian dies after Orchard Road crash; driver arrested

A 79-year-old pedestrian died in a hospital after a crash with a car in Singapore's Orchard Road area, and police arrested the driver. Police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force were alerted at about 6:45 a.m. on Aug. 11 to the collision at the junction of Grange Road and Paterson Road. The man was taken unconscious to Singapore General Hospital, where he later died. Police arrested a 46-year-old man for driving without due care and attention causing death. Photos shared on Facebook showed the victim lying on the road after the crash, with a paramedic and a stretcher nearby, and a Traffic Police witness appeal at the scene. Investigations are ongoing.
