7 girls, including a 12-year-old, held after Orchard attack

What's new: The 14-year-old victim was taken to KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital and was reportedly hospitalized for nine days.

Seven girls ages 12 to 17 were arrested for rioting after a 14-year-old girl was allegedly beaten in an Orchard Road carpark in Singapore on May 3. Police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force received a call for help at about 11.25 p.m. at Block 616 Bedok Reservoir Road, where the injured teen had gone after leaving the scene. SCDF took her to KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital in a conscious state. Shin Min Daily News, citing the girl’s mother, reported that she had been lured to the carpark after dinner with friends and attacked by at least seven girls, four of whom she had met online. A video circulating online appears to show the girl being punched and kicked while on the ground. Police said investigations are ongoing.
