6 family members killed in Kedah crash; 3-year-old girl survives

Six members of a family died in Kedah, Malaysia, after the Proton X50 they were riding in collided with a lorry in Kampung Baru Pinang Tunggal on June 7, leaving a 3-year-old girl as the only survivor. Reports identified the dead as the driver, his brother, his wife, his mother-in-law, a 7-year-old child and a 6-month-old baby. The girl was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. Malaysian media reported the family had collected the new vehicle earlier that day and were traveling from Kepala Batas, Penang, to Merbok to visit their late father's grave. Firefighters pulled victims from the wreckage. Kedah police chief Adzli Abu Shah said the truck driver tested negative for drugs and alcohol and that investigators were examining the cause.
