Sulteng sets 7-day quake emergency, Sigi 14 days

Aid deliveries of water, medicine, tents and logistics are being sped up for four areas as damage data continues to be updated.

The Provincial Government of Sulawesi Tengah has set a seven-day emergency response status for the 6.7-magnitude earthquake, in effect June 17-23 2026, for Kabupaten Sigi, Parigi Moutong, Poso, and Kota Palu. At the district level, the Sigi regency administration earlier declared a 14-day emergency response period through June 30. Preliminary data in Sigi show 5,300 residents, or 1,300 households, affected, with 1,300 homes damaged. The regency said the damage is concentrated in Palolo and Nokilalaki districts. Local authorities, together with BPBD, TNI/Polri, Tagana, and volunteers, evacuated residents and distributed food, clean water, tents, and medical services. Governor Anwar Hafid also said aid had been delivered to 550 households, while follow-up assessments are still under way.
