5 vehicles breach Sudirman CFD, Jakarta govt probes identities
Barrier was reportedly forced open; one vehicle used a strobe light, and the convoy was directed out via SCBD.
The Jakarta provincial government is tracing the identities of five vehicles that breached the Car Free Day area on Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, Jakarta, on Sunday (23/8). Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said private vehicles should not be allowed to pass through the CFD zone. Access was reportedly closed with barriers, but the convoy still entered after the barricade was opened. Transportation Agency officers stationed in the SCBD area then stopped the group and directed them out of the CFD lane. According to Pramono, one of the vehicles used a strobe light. Video of the convoy had earlier gone viral on social media; Antara reported that the group consisted of three Toyota Fortuner and two Toyota Alphard. Pramono said the provincial government is still examining vehicle ownership and who was inside them, and has also reprimanded Satpol PP to be firmer.
