47,250 Tons of Indonesian Urea Arrive in Brisbane, First of 250,000

The first shipment is part of the Indonesia-Australia G-to-G scheme as global fertilizer supplies tighten amid Middle East turmoil.

47,250 tons of urea fertilizer from Indonesia arrived at Brisbane Port, Queensland, Australia, on June 22-23, 2026 as the first shipment under government-to-government cooperation between Indonesia and Australia. The arrival of the cargo carried by MV Medi marked the initial stage of an agreement to export 250,000 tons of urea. Indonesian Ambassador to Australia and Vanuatu Siswo Pramono said the shipment strengthens food security in the Indo-Pacific region amid global supply-chain disruptions. Pupuk Indonesia Chief Executive Rahmad Pribadi said the national urea production capacity provides room for exports without disrupting domestic supply. Pupuk Indonesia has a production capacity of 14.8 million tons per year; its 2026 urea production target is 7.8 million tons, while domestic demand is estimated at 6.3 million tons.
