4-year-old abuse victim in Bekasi dies
The child had head surgery and was treated in the PICU at RSUD Koja before dying Wednesday night.
QSH, a 4-year-old girl who was allegedly abused by her stepmother in Tarumajaya, Bekasi Regency, has died after being treated intensively in the PICU at RSUD Koja in North Jakarta. Police confirmed the victim died on Wednesday night, while the cause of death is still being confirmed. Earlier, the child underwent surgery on her head and was unconscious. Police have named DM, 19, as a suspect. Initial findings suggest the violence may have occurred repeatedly from May to early July 2026. Medical workers doubted the suspect's explanation that the child slipped in the bathroom because the injuries found did not match. A preliminary examination noted bruises on the back, chest, face and stomach, as well as abrasions and burns on the buttocks. DM is charged under Article 76C in conjunction with Article 80 of the Child Protection Law.
